He causes the grass to grow for the cattle,
And vegetation for the service of man,
That he may bring forth food from the earth.
-Psalm 104:14
We are a family farm that started in 2022. My husband and I were born and raised in Chicago. Every summer, when I was young, I watched as my grandfathers' wisdom and creativity took flight as he grew a backyard full of tomatoes, green beans, lettuce, cucumbers and peppers. At a young age he cultivated my love of growing our own food. For having a plot of land to get my hands dirty. My grandpa didn't stop at just providing food security for our family, but he generously shared his harvests with family, friends, neighbors and coworkers.
After my husband and I married we moved out of Chicago to start our family. As our family grew, we tried to start a garden, but our backyard proved to be a challenge. With large tree roots, a huge hill, and drainage issues we eventually resorted to gardening in pots strewn all over the yard and front porch. It worked for a season but as our family grew, we knew a change was shortly behind. Each of our children have varying degrees of food challenges. From minor food allergies to major health issues that require many doctor appointments, hospitalizations and procedures. Our children could not eat most foods found in grocery stores. There was no miraculous medication they could take to help them thrive or cure their issues. We were in uncharted waters most days but with prayer and the help of the children's medical team guiding us with their nutritional needs our path started to take shape. We spent years reading books on regenerative gardening. Looking at ways to increase the nutrition in the food we were growing for them to support their growing bodies. Before long we realized that where we lived was not going to support this new journey, we were about to embark on.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
-Proverbs 3:5-6
Not only did we want to have the security of providing nutrient dense food for our family we also want to make a way for it to be available to others. So, we packed up our house and children and moved onto a ten-acre farm in Cherry Valley. Alongside a cherished family friend who has reignited a passion my grandfather started in me long ago, we spent the last two years starting up our almost two-acre garden. Relearning some older techniques and applying some regenerative practices we are growing and harvesting fresh, unsprayed vegetables at their peak of freshness.
If you are curious how our children are doing on their new diet, they are growing and thriving with leaps and bounds. They have the energy that every child should enjoy as they run after chickens, sheep and pigs. We thank the Lord daily for His abundance and blessing of our journey and our newfound adventures.
Many Blessings
The Krown Family
Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen
-Philippians 4:20

We support our areas Christian youth center called Rockhouse Kids. We make sure that during our pumpkin sales time we dedicate a day that all sales go to Rockhouse kids to support their ministry. In 2024 we are also looking into dedicating a day of sales to the Bounce Children Foundation that helps families who have chronically ill children be able to spend a day out enjoying themselves and trying to Bounce back. When we decide on the dates this will take place, we will list them here or on our Facebook page!
